About Fiction Norway
The story
Fiction Norway is organized by Tromsø International Film Festival, in partnership with the Norwegian Film Institute, Filmfond Nord, International Sami Film Institute and VIRKE - The Norwegian Producers Association, and sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General - New York, Norwegian Film Commission, Northern Norway Film Commission and the U.S. Embassy in Norway.
The project market presents a curated selection of feature films from Norway’s established and next generation producers and directors, as well as special focus regions or themes.
Fiction Norway was held for the first time in 2020 during the Tromsø International Film Festival, presenting 25 projects to US and international executives.
Following Norway’s success at the Oscar Nominations, the 2022-edition took place in Los Angeles, presenting a curated selection of projects while celebrating Norway’s nominees.
The projects are selected by the Norwegian Film Institute, the main financing body in Norway. All projects have at a minimum North American rights available, and a solid partner attached (such as regional or national non-recoupable funding).
The projects are presented at Fiction Norway by the lead producers and creatives.
